Steam Trailer First-Seconds Check

Drop your trailer in. We grab a frame every half second from the first 6 seconds and flag logo cards, black frames and fades before gameplay.

How frames are judged

Each frame's brightness and contrast are measured. Nearly uniform or very dark frames (logo cards, black, fades) are marked; the first frame with real detail counts as gameplay. Gameplay by 3 seconds passes.

Questions

▸How long should a Steam trailer be?

Most effective store trailers run 60–90 seconds, with gameplay from the very start.

▸Should a Steam trailer start with a logo?

No. Store trailers autoplay muted and viewers decide quickly; save publisher and studio logos for the end.

▸Is my video uploaded?

No. Frames are read in your browser; the file never leaves your computer.
