Tell us your genre and whether you're joining a Next Fest. Every week of the next year gets a score with the reasons: big sales, festivals, holidays and themed fests that suit you.

How weeks are scored

Every week starts at 70. Major sales take 35 off, Next Fest week 25, a sale starting within 10 days another 10, and the Christmas holidays 15. A themed fest that matches your genre adds 15, and the two weeks after a sale or Next Fest add 8. If you join a Next Fest, weeks before it are marked down and the 4 weeks after it are marked up.

▸When is the best time to release a game on Steam?

Avoid the big seasonal sales and Next Fest week, when new full-price games get buried. A few weeks after a Next Fest you took part in is popular, while wishlist momentum is fresh.

▸Should I launch during a Steam sale?

Usually not: players are shopping deep discounts. Also avoid launching just before a sale, because your launch discount window would overlap it.

▸Should I launch during a themed fest?

If it matches your genre, yes: themed fests feature fitting games, and you can apply in Steamworks.
